AI Container Tracking & LFD Alerts

Automated visibility across Seagirt, Dundalk, and Tradepoint Atlantic — before demurrage starts.

What it does

PortFlow pulls container status data from Port of Baltimore terminal systems every 6 hours — Seagirt Marine Terminal, Dundalk Marine Terminal, and Tradepoint Atlantic. Status updates are normalized into a single dashboard view and tracked against carrier-issued last-free-day dates.

When a container's LFD is 72 hours out, your team gets an alert. At 48 hours, another alert. At 24 hours, a final alert with escalation if no action has been logged. You act before the demurrage clock starts — not after.

What it prevents

Demurrage at Port of Baltimore terminals typically runs $150–$300 per container per day. A two-container shipment that sits 5 days past the LFD can cost $1,500–$3,000 in entirely avoidable charges. The Essentials plan's entire monthly cost can be recovered by preventing a single event like this.

Manual portal-checking is inconsistent. LFD tracking gets missed when your team is handling 30 other things. Automated alerts eliminate the dependency on manual checks.

How it works

Setup takes less than a day. We receive your container list via your TMS, email, or direct integration. Our system handles status pulls, LFD calculations, and alert routing automatically. You receive alerts through email (and Slack or Teams for Operations Partner and Full-Scope clients).

Alerts include container number, terminal location, current status, LFD, and recommended action — not just a data dump.

Documentation Management

Pre-submission error checks and active tracking for ISFs, BOLs, customs entries, and delivery orders.

What it does

PortFlow tracks the documentation lifecycle for your Baltimore port shipments — from ISF filing through customs entry and delivery order release. Every document is logged with status, deadline, and responsible party.

Before submission, we run a pre-check against the most common error categories: HTS code mismatches, missing commercial invoice data, consignee discrepancies, and manifest errors that trigger CBP holds.

What it prevents

A customs hold that delays container release by 3 days is a $450–$900 demurrage charge on a single container. Documentation errors are the second most common cause of demurrage after LFD misses — and they're entirely preventable with a structured pre-check process.

Error flagging happens before submission, not after a CBP exam or a carrier delay notice. The cost of catching a wrong HTS code before filing is zero. The cost after is real.

How it works

You share documentation via your existing workflow — email, shared folder, or TMS integration. We pre-check against a structured error list, flag any issues with specific corrective guidance, and return cleared documents with a pre-submission sign-off.

For Operations Partner and Full-Scope clients, we also manage the delivery order request process directly with carriers on your behalf.

Reefer & Chassis Monitoring

Live temperature and chassis availability tracking across all three Port of Baltimore terminals.

What it does

For temperature-sensitive cargo, PortFlow monitors reefer status at Seagirt Marine Terminal, Dundalk Marine Terminal, and Tradepoint Atlantic — flagging temperature deviations immediately so you can act before product is compromised.

On the chassis side, we track pool availability in real time across Baltimore terminals, alerting when chassis shortages could affect your scheduled pickups.

What it prevents

A temperature excursion on refrigerated cargo caught late is a cargo claim, not just a logistics delay. Early detection preserves both the cargo and the business relationship.

Chassis shortages cause missed pickup windows, which create demurrage. Knowing that availability is constrained 12 hours in advance gives your drayage team time to source alternative equipment or reschedule the appointment.

How it works

Monitoring is configured during onboarding based on your cargo types and carrier relationships. Temperature alert thresholds are set per shipment. Chassis availability is tracked at the terminal level and included in your daily operational summary alongside container status.

Drayage Dispatch Coordination

Chassis confirmation, driver scheduling, and terminal appointment coordination — included at no extra cost.

What it will do

The fourth PortFlow service closes the loop on Baltimore port operations management. When container tracking flags a container approaching its LFD, and chassis monitoring shows availability is tight, drayage dispatch coordination initiates the pickup sequence: chassis confirmed, driver scheduled, terminal appointment booked.

The handoff from visibility to action happens automatically, without requiring your team to manually bridge the gap between the alert and the dray.

What it prevents

The most common demurrage scenario is one where your team knew about the LFD, intended to arrange pickup, but the dray coordination didn't happen in time. Chassis wasn't confirmed, driver wasn't locked in, appointment wasn't booked. Drayage dispatch coordination eliminates the manual steps that cause these misses.

Pricing and timeline

Drayage dispatch coordination will be included at no additional cost for all active PortFlow clients when it launches. Clients who sign now lock in their current pricing tier when dispatch goes live. Rush onboarding is available to get active in 48 hours if your next Baltimore shipment can't wait.
